Master the art of Japanese fencing through discipline, respect, and continuous improvement

What is Kendo?

Kendo, literally "the way of the sword," is a modern Japanese martial art that evolved from traditional swordsmanship (kenjutsu). Practitioners wear protective armor (bogu) and use bamboo swords (shinai) to execute strikes targeting specific areas: men (head), kote (wrists), do (torso), and tsuki (throat thrust).

Kendo emphasizes the unity of mind, body, and sword (ki-ken-tai-ichi). Each strike must demonstrate proper spirit, correct technique, and physical commitment simultaneously to be considered valid.
